VIRGINIA BEACH -Surf's up at the Va. Beach Oceanfront so businesses hope to ride the wave of prosperity that comes with the 51st annual East Coast Surfing Championships

More than 100,000 people are expected to enjoy the tournament events and fill restaurants and other businesses.

Caleb Nuckols sells pretzels, hot dogs and snow cones at the boardwalk. He says on a typical day, he earns $300 profits. During the surfing tournament his sales double.

"We restock our food every couple hours," he said.

The ECSC is a four-day event, making it the second-longest running surfing contest in the world.
