VIRGINIA BEACH -- You can avoid traffic on the Lesner bridge by checking out the newly installed online camera that overlooks it.

The city just put in the Work Zone Cam near the construction site on Shore Drive. You can see the progress of building the new Lesner and keep your eye out for any backups.

Motorists can expect to deal with more traffic when crews have to close one lane of the bridge during certain times of construction.

“Everyone hates traffic, if there’s a camera out there I would check it too,” project manager Chris Wojtowicz said.

The camera snaps a picture of the Lesner every 30 minutes. You can also watch a time lapse video of the progression and search certain dates or times.

Contractors will use the technology to monitor weather conditions which will help them determine work schedules.
