VIRGINIA BEACH -- A jury recommended 30 years in prison for the man accused of raping a vacationer in Virginia Beach in 2012.
Marcus Jermaine Norman, 27, was found guilty Thursday of rape and statutory burglary.
According to the prosecutor, a woman came to Virginia Beach to vacation with her boyfriend in May, 2012. The two were staying at the InTown Suites on S. Independence Boulevard. Around midnight, Norman forced his way into the hotel room and sexually assaulted her.
Prosecutors said Norman fell asleep on top of the victim, then woke up and began to projectile vomit all over the hotel room. The woman ran to the bathroom and called 911.
Norman has prior convictions for burglary, aggravated assault, child cruelty, assault, forgery, false reporting and possession of marijuana.
Sentencing for Norman will be on November 19, 2013.
