VIRGINIA BEACH -- It's a picture-takers dream -- a device that goes high in the sky to give you a perfect bird's eye view that most people only get from a helicopter or blimp.

But, at what cost?

Local police worry about safety and privacy concerns.

"This definitely can be an issue when it comes to law enforcement," says Detective Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department.

She says authorities worry the mini-helicopters may be hard to police -- flying over crime scenes like standoffs or buzzing by windows, creating Peeping Tom situations.

"This is a way criminals could absolutely use this technology to benefit them," she adds.

13NewsNow investigates drones for personal use -- the perfect picture vs. your privacy. Watch Monday at 11 p.m.
