1/16 UPDATE: 21-year-old Prince Lee was sentenced to 36 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for conspiracy to transport persons for prostitution.
Arielle Pierre was sentenced on January 8 to 12 months in jail; Henry Olson is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29.
NORFOLK - Three people from New York are accused of trying to sell women as sex slaves in Va. Beach.
Federal prosecutors say an ad on Craigslist Hampton Roads posted in May was spotted by Va. Beach Police, who made contact with the suspects and set up a meeting to "buy" three women for approximately $225,000.
According to the indictment, Prince Lee and Henry Olson recruited a woman from New York, saying she'd make $10,000 if she'd just hang out with a friend in Virginia. They allege Arielle Pierre and Lee recruited a second woman to spend a few hours with the same man.
Neither woman was told that they were being “sold” to the man, according to the indictment.
On the meeting date, police say they watched as Lee and Pierre "yelled at and grabbed" the second woman, but she was able to run to a hotel and get help. Lee then threatened to abandon the first woman if she didn't do what she'd agreed to do, according to authorities.
At the specified time on June 1, police arrived and arrested 20-year-old Lee, 21-year-old Olson and 21-year-old Pierre. They each have been indicted on charges of conspiracy, transportation for prostitution and coercion and enticement and face up to 20 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
