Virginia-based Navy sailor who died in Indiana crash identified

UPDATE 12/13:  The man killed when his car crossed the median of I-64 in Indiana Thursday was identified as 23-year-old Tory Krueger, who was on his back to Missouri from Virginia when the accident happened.

Police said Thursday that Krueger was driving his Nissan westbound and, for unknown reasons, crossed the median. The Nissan was t-boned by an SUV carrying a grandmother, a mother and her two children. 

Two-year-old Merissa Summer was killed and her 11-month-old sibling was critically injured. Krueger was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The children's grandmother, who was driving the SUV, and their mother, Kayla Yeager of Laconia, were not injured.

The 11-month-old child was flown to Kosair Children's Hospital.  She is in critical condition.

HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. -- Emergency crews responded to a fatal accident on Interstate 64 in Harrison County, Ind. Tuesday morning.

That accident happened around 9:00 Thursday morning near mile marker 106.

Police said a Navy serviceman based in Virginia was driving his Nissan westbound and, for unknown reasons, crossed the median. The Nissan was t-boned by a car traveling eastbound.  A 2-year-old girl in the car traveling eastbound was killed and an infant was critically wounded.

The serviceman in the Nissan was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The children's grandmother was driving the eastbound car and their mother, identified as Kayla Yaeger of Laconia, Ind., was in the passenger seat. Neither of them were seriously injured.

The 11-month-old child was flown to Kosair Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The name of the Navy serviceman was not released.
