SUFFOLK-- Police are looking for a woman who escaped from police custody.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a police officer spotted a stolen 1995 Dodge pick-up truck on White Marsh Road. The suspects, 19-year-old Alivia Burris and a man were arrested at the scene.
The man was being treated for heat exhaustion at the scene when Burris ran off into a wooded area. She was still wearing handcuffs, which police have since found.
Investigators say that Burris got into an accident earlier Saturday morning. That accident involved another stolen car that was taken from the Days Inn on George Washington Highway in Chesapeake. She then called the male suspect who picked her up in the Dodge pick-up truck.
Alivia Burris is facing several charges. She is wanted by Virginia State police for grand larceny, and hit and run from the accident in Chesapeake on Saturday morning. Suffolk police have charged Burris with escape from custody, providing false ID to police, petit larceny, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
She was last seen wearing black sweatpants with holes in both of the knees, a t-shirt with a duck on it and black and white socks.
The male suspect was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for heat exhaustion.
Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this case should call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
