SUFFOLK -- Construction on a new 94-room Hampton Inn Hotel is expected to begin this spring. 

Shamin Hotels plans to build the 56,000-square foot hotel on Centerbrooke Lane, near the intersection of Godwin Boulevard and Route 58 Bypass.

“This new hotel showcases the diverse economic development growth occurring in Suffolk,” said Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson.  “I am pleased to see Suffolk’s hospitality industry grow to complement our tourism and ever-growing business industry base.”

Shamin Hotels owns and manages 40 properties in several states with close to 5,000 rooms and over 70,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. The organization is recognized as the largest hotel management company in Central Virginia.

The J. M. Smucker Company, known for Smucker’s ®, Jif ®, and Folgers ® brands, has announced plans to increase production space by 13,000 square feet at their liquid coffee processing facility at 1368 Progress Road, in Wilroy Industrial Park. 

The $4 million investment includes $1 million in advanced warehousing and processing equipment.  The added warehouse space will also allow for more storage of raw materials and support future growth opportunities.

The J.M. Smucker Company noted, "Suffolk, the Port of Virginia and the state of Virginia has been the perfect mix of what we needed to grow as a company, and this investment signifies J. M. Smucker’s continued commitment to the city of Suffolk."

Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, one of the world’s largest coffee roasters, has announced plans to begin producing its latest beverage product, called Filter Cups™, at its manufacturing facility in Wilroy Industrial Park.

Filter Cups™ are the newest addition to their coffee and beverage line and can be used in any single serve coffee brewing machine that accepts K-Cup® portion packs.

The $4 million investment to install the production line in Suffolk is expected to create ten new jobs.

Johnson.  “Massimo Zanetti’s growth in our community has been astounding, and we couldn’t be happier that Suffolk is where these new innovations, products and jobs are created.”
