SUFFOLK-- An auto accident involving a log truck closed a portion of South Quay Road Monday night. The accident happened around 7 p.m. in the 7100 block near the Cotton Gin. 

The car ran into the side of the log truck as it was pulling onto the roadway, causing the car to catch on fire. 

According to police, witnesses on the scene  pulled the driver to safety and used a fire extinguisher to help put out the fire in  the engine compartment. 

The driver  was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

South Quay Road was down to one lane westbound. 

The accident is under investigation.
