11:40 a.m. UPDATE: City officials say the 2" gas line was secured at 11 a.m.; 9 McDonald's employees allowed into the business at 11:15 a.m.; the three employees, 25 adults and 10 children evacuated by bus from the Super 8 Motel were also safely returned.
All roads reopened at 11:15 a.m.

SUFFOLK- A McDonald's and Super 8 motel in the area of the 100 block of West Constance Road at the intersection with North Main Street in Suffolk has been evacuated due to a gas leak.

Suffolk Emergency Communications received word that a contractor had ruptured a gas line in that area at 9:43 a.m. Thursday.

Virginia Natural Gas crews are on the way.

Suffolk Police have shut down the southbound lane of North Main Street in that area.
