Driver ejected after car flips on Suffolk road

4:37 p.m. UPDATE:  The driver has been identified as 22-year-old Nicholas Scott Scheil of Windsor, Virginia.  He remains hospitalized with injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening. 

Scheil has been charged with reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.  Additional charges are pending.

SUFFOLK -- A man was thrown from his car when it flipped on eastbound Route 58 at the Route 10/Godwin Boulevard on-ramp.

The accident happened around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say initial reports indicate the man was turning right onto Rt. 10 ramp when he ran into the grassy median, hit street signs and then flipped several times.

The driver, who hasn't been identified, was taken to Sentara Obici and then flown to Sentara Norfolk General.

Traffic is being rerouted because the ramp is closed for the investigation.
