SUFFOLK -- A driver died Sunday night after his car crashed into a tree pinning him inside it.

Police along with Fire and Rescue crews responded to the wreck in the 1700 block of Hosier Road at about 8:30 p.m.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink said the car was heading south when went off the roadway and hit a tree. The crash pinned the driver inside. He died a short time later.

Klink expected the area in the 1700 block of Hosier Road to stay closed for several hours as police investigated the wreck.
