UPDATE 8/5: Police say David Gillespie "responded to police headquarters" Tuesday.

No further details were released.

UPDATE 3 p.m.: Suffolk Police say they've discontinued the search in the area where David Christopher Gillespie’s wrecked vehicle was found earlier this morning.  "While Gillespie is considered missing, he does not fall into a suspicious or endangered category at this time."

SUFFOLK -- A man's car was found in ditch in Suffolk early Thursday, but he is missing.

40-year-old David Christopher Gillespie's 4-door Buick had apparently crashed in the rural, wooded area of the 2000 block of Lake Cohoon Road around 1 a.m.

Police say his family says they haven't heard from him.

Gillespie, who was last known to live in Chesapeake, is 5’8” tall, weighs 145 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
