21-year-old charged with storm-related burglary at Suffolk store

SUFFOLK -- A 21-year-old is charged with burglarizing a Suffolk gas station during a power outage.

Police say Akia Lamar Scott broke into Kangaroo Express on Wilroy Road early on the morning of June 30 and stole scratch-off Virginia Lottery tickets. They say surveillance photos showed Scott cashing winning tickets at another convenience store.

Scott is charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Larceny with Intent to Sell, Obtain Money by False Pretense greater than $200, and Destruction of Property greater than $1000.
