3/7 UPDATE: Jennings was returned to Suffolk and will be arraigned on March 14, according to online court records.

UPDATE 2/19/14:  Jeffery Jennings was able to elude capture until Tuesday morning when Deputy US Marshals in Nashville, Tenn. were able to arrest him without incident.  Jennings is currently  awaiting extradition back to Virginia.

SUFFOLK -- Police are searching for a suspect in a deadly overnight shooting.

A city spokesperson advises that emergency dispatchers got a call around 1:00 on Saturday morning about shots being fired in the 1000 block of Cogic Square.

When responders arrived on scene they discovered a male on the ground suffering from multiple injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Lloyd Green with a last known address in the 300 block of S. Broad Street.

Officials are searching for 21-year-old Jeffrey O'Neil Jennings Jr. in connection with the shooting. Jennings is facing several charges: 1st Degree Murder, Shoot, Stab, Cut or Wound with Intent to maim or Kill, shooting in commission of a felony, Use or Display of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Discharge a Firearm in Public Place with Injury.

Investigators are requesting that anyone with information in the case should call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. When calling, people are not required to give their names or appear in court. If the information provided leads to an arrest the caller may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
