PORTSMOUTH -- A Portsmouth woman was taken into custody Tuesday after she threatened a woman with something that resembled a handgun near an elementary school, police said.
According to Portsmouth City spokeswoman Jan Clark, 56-year-old Mary Schepp made the threats with a black, wooden gun in the 300 block of Deal Drive, directly across the street from Hodges Manor Elementary School, around 9 a.m.
Schepp told officers she was upset because someone had parked in her driveway.
Neither Hodges Manor Elementary School nor Woodrow Wilson High School were placed on lock down.
Schepp was issued a summons for brandishing a firearm and was released to Safe Haven, pending a health evaluation.
