PORTSMOUTH-- Two men have become the latest suspects to be arrested by a burglary task force formed to solve property crimes in the city. The arrests bring to 16 the number of suspects taken into custody by the newly formed task force over the last two weeks.
The two men were arrested around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday when police received calls from citizens about a suspicious occupied vehicle in the 2200 block of Oregon Avenue.
Callers told police the occupants had left the vehicle and were walking between homes in the area.
The task force responded and after an investigation arrested two suspects for a burglary that occurred at a nearby house.
Arrested were Jimmy D. Holloman, 24, of the 1300 block of Mt Vernon Avenue and Thyrone Lynn Scott, 23, of the 1500 block of Mt Vernon Avenue. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, burglary, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, and destruction of property.
In the past two weeks, the task force has arrested sixteen people on thirty-nine various charges related to property crimes. The officers have conducted one-hundred and nine field interviews that have led to the arrest of suspects.
