UPDATE 3/4:  Phillip Bosket pleaded guilty on Dec. 3, 2013 and was sentenced Tuesday to 21 years and 8 months in prison for bank robbery and brandishing a firearm in the commission of a crime.  *****

PORTSMOUTH --A Chesapeake man is charged with robbing a bank that ended when he crashed during a high-speed chase through three cities.  

47-year-old Phillip Bosket is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank at 5820 High Street in Portsmouth around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. After getting money, they left in a gold van.

A responding officer saw tried to stop the vehicle in the area of High and Hartford streets and the chase was on. Police say Bosket drove through several Portsmouth neighborhoods and then got onto Interstate 264, where he sped through Chesapeake and finally ended up in the 100 block of Ballard Court in Va. Beach.

After trying to get away from police, Bosket was arrested and initially taken to the hospital for treatment of an arm injury.

He's charged with one count each of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony elude, violation of a protective order, and wearing a mask in public.

Police said Friday they are not releasing Bosket's photo because of the ongoing investigation.
