PORTSMOUTH -- Police are looking for the man who they say stole several pieces of jewelry and cash during a Portsmouth home burglary last week.
Police are searching for 46-year-old William E. Proffitt Jr. of the 10 block of Emmons Place in Portsmouth.
Police said on March 10, Proffitt kicked in the door of a home on Woodland Street, took jewelry and cash and then several days later pawned the items at two local pawn shops.
Proffitt is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Proffitt has also been known to live in the 500 block of Beacon Road in Portsmouth and the 4600 block of Peek Trail in Chesapeake.
Proffitt currently has active warrants for burglary, grand larceny, larceny with the intent to sell, destruction of property and obtaining money by false pretenses.
