Update 10/22: Police have identified the suspect as 18-year-old Markel Donald Byrd.  He has been charged with burglary and was also served an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

Detectives are still attempting to identify the second suspect in this case and are asking for anyone with information to call the Crime Line at 1-888- LOCK-U-UP.

PORTSMOUTH-An alert neighbor is credited with helping police stop a burglary.

Around 11:00 a.m., an officer on patrol went to investigate activity at the home in the 2700 block of Bagley Street in the Truxton area. He found a window on the back of house open and the screen was on the ground, said Det. Misty Holley.

More officers arrived as two men left the home and ran off. Holley says an 18-year old male was taken into custody immediately, but the second person got away.

Authorities were searching the area and want anyone with information to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
