PORTSMOUTH --A Portsmouth man was killed when a car struck him Monday night.
52-year-old Harold Lewis Shepherd was crossing Airline Blvd. around 8:30 p.m. when an 83-year driving a Nissan Cube struck him. Shepherd died at the hospital.
People who live and work in the area said Tuesday they're concerned because there aren't any crosswalks at that intersection.
The investigation is ongoing and the driver hasn't been charged. Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
Shepherd lived on Brighton Street, where members of his family gathered Tuesday to mourn and plan services.
