PORTSMOUTH - A homeless shelter in Portsmouth will close Saturday while it undergoes renovation.  

The Portsmouth Area Resources Coalition family shelter is renovating its 60-year-old building. Upgrades include public, the heating and air conditioning systems and a new roof.

The shelter on Columbus Avenue has 30 beds and is a short-term housing option for families experiencing homelessness.
