UPDATE 3/25/14:  Police say 24-year-old Samantha K. Johnson of Moyock, North Carolina turned herself in Monday on outstanding indictments for abduction, robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and breaking and entering in connection with this case.  

Johnson was indicted on March 6, 2014 by a Portsmouth Grand Jury and is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.

Police also arrested 30-year-old Jeffrey D. Salsgiver on outstanding indictments for abduction, robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and breaking and entering.   

Salsgiver is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE 11/25:  Police have made two arrests in connection with the Portsmouth home invasion. 

Christopher S. Smead, 30, of Grandy, North Carolina, was served several felony indictments including abduction, robbery, breaking and entering and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

Anthony C. Deweese, 32, of Grandy, North Carolina, was arrested on several felony indictments including abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and breaking and entering. 

Deweese is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.

PORTSMOUTH-Victims of a home invasion fought back, wounding one person and keeping a second one at the scene until police arrived.

Police say four people with guns stormed into the house in the 3900 block of Long Point Blvd. around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday.

According to detectives, one of people inside the house pulled a gun and opened fire, striking a 29-year-old man in the back. A second suspect, a 26-year-old man, was held by others in the home while the two other suspects left.

The wounded suspect is hospitalized and charges are pending. The 26-year-old was taken by police and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit a felony.
