PORTSMOUTH - More than half of the dogs flown from California to the Portsmouth Humane Society late last night have news homes.

The "Hollywood Pups" as they're called came from Pasadena Animal Control and SPCA because it was overwhelmed with chihuahuas and other small dogs. Because of a new partnership, the Portsmouth Humane Society was asked to take some animals.

The 18 dogs arrived just before midnight and were up for adoption at noon Friday. Workers there gave them "star names like Dr. Dre, Danny DeVito, James Brown and Cameron Diaz.

13 of the dogs had new forever homes by 3:00 p.m., according to the Society's Facebook page.

Young dogs cost $200 to adopt; it's $100 for the older dogs.

Of course, there are lots of dogs, cats and other animals from Portsmouth that need new owners.
