PORTSMOUTH— The Coast Guard medevaced a 55-year-old man Monday from a fishing boat in the southern Chesapeake Bay.

The Coast Guard received a call from the operator of the fishing boat John S. Dempster at 4:15 p.m., saying a crewman had suffered a seizure near Fisherman Island.

Coast Guard Station Cape Charles launched a 25-foot response boat shortly after the call came in. The crew arrived at the fishing boat about two miles west of the entrance to Elliots Creek and took the man aboard.

The man was brought to Kiptopeke State Park where he was placed in the care of awaiting local EMS at about 4:55 p.m.

He was reported to be in good condition.
