NORFOLK - A Newport News man faces a murder charge in the death of a woman who died in January.

Police say Mercedes Tubens of Norfolk was found in an Ocean View motel room on January 25th.

At the time, the case was ruled an undetermined death.

Authorities say toxicology results returned Tuesday caused the medical examiner to reclassify the death as a homicide.

Wednesday, police arrested  21-year-old Lincoln Thomas Peters of Turnberry Blvd. in Newport News. He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail.

Tubens was 20 when she died. She was found at the Knights Inn in the 1100 block of E. Ocean View Ave.
