NORFOLK - Yet another winter storm is bearing down on Hampton Roads and much of the east coast.

The coming sleet and snow is forcing many airlines to cancel flights, including ones at Norfolk International Airport and Newport news-Williamsburg Airports.

Norfolk International Airport spokesman Robert Bowen says for the first time this winter, they aren't de-icing until the rain passes.  Unlike other storms, this storm starts with rain and is will turn over to snow, he added.

Officials say you should check with the airlines directly or check airport Web sites if you are expecting someone to fly in or you're taking a trip Monday.

More than 2,100 flights in the United States were canceled early Monday, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com. The bulk of the problems was at airports in Washington, New York and Philadelphia, but "flight cancellations are stacking up all the way from the DC area on up to New England," said Daniel Baker of FlightAware.
