NORFOLK -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left two men injured on Saturday night.
Darryl Speller was charged with malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Saturday night officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1300 block of Johnstons Road. When they arrived an adult male was discovered suffering from a gun shot wound.
While officers were still on the scene they learned that a second victim was taken to Sentara Leigh Hospital in a private vehicle.
According to a press release both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives have determined that both victims were involved in a verbal altercation with Darryl Speller who is also a family relative.
Both victims and the suspect were at a family gathering when at some point during an argument, Speller, pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Speller left the scene in a mini-van, but was later located and taken into custody.
No word yet on a motive for the shooting.
