NORFOLK -- The lawsuit filed to stop the tolls at the Midtown and Downtown Tunnels will head to federal court.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the company in charge of the project filed documents in U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia to have the case heard there.
Dozens of area residents and businesses say Elizabeth River Crossings is violating various state and federal constitutional rights.
VDOT is also a defendant in the suit.
The tolls at the Midtown and Downtown Tunnels are scheduled to start in 2014, and will cost drivers close to $2 at peak hours.
