NORFOLK -- Dominion Virginia Power workers reported that power was restored to many residents around 1:45 p.m. Friday after a truck ran into a power pole and caused outages that morning.
The semi truck reportedly ran into a power pole at Tidewater Dr. and Goff St., causing a transformer fire, and knocking out power for about 1,100 people.
Businesses in the Huntersville, Downtown, Ghent, and Park Place neighborhoods reportedly experienced power surges and outages starting around 11 a.m.
Dominion Power said that the power could be out for a few hours.
A City of Norfolk tweet acknowledged the outages, asking parents to pick up their children from area Rec. Centers.
