NORFOLK--Swimming advisories posted at 4 Ocean View beaches were lifted Wednesday afternoon, in time for the Fourth of July holiday.
The beaches affected are the entire Captain’s Quarters park area, the beach area from 14th Bay Street to 25th Bay Street, the oceanfront site between Inlet Road and Beaumont Street, and the 11th View Street to 15th View Street beach site.
Sampling showed the bacteria levels at the sites had decreased to within State Water Quality Standards.
Signs warning people of the health risk were removed Wednesday.
The Environmental Health Division of the Norfolk Department of Public Health samples water at Ocean View beaches every week during the swimming season, from mid-May through mid-October.
