NORFOLK -- The first place most people head when they're feeling sick is to the comfort of their bed. Now, some zoo animals will have the same option, thanks to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The hospital donated a hospital bed to the clinic at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk Thursday.
Sentara said their mission is to improve health every day, in this case it will be that of animals.
Zoo spokesman Winifield Danielson said,"As a nonprofit, every dollar counts. Donation of a substantial piece of medical equipment like this allows us to spend money on other medical equipment that we may not have been able to otherwise. In the end, it helps us to provide the best possible care for our animals. We are very grateful to Sentara for their support of that goal."
The bed was delivered to the Animal Wellness Campus.
