VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach man was cited Monday after TSA officers at Norfolk International Airport spotted a .380 caliber Ruger hand gun loaded with six round in the his carry-on baggage, officials said.
This is the second gun discovered in four days by officers at a checkpoint X-ray machine, TSA spokesman Jim McKinney said.

TSA contacted the Norfolk Airport Authority Police who responded, confiscated the gun and ammunition, and cited the man, according to McKinney.
The man was able to catch his flight to Washington Dulles International Airport—minus the gun, TSA officials said.
Anyone traveling with a firearm needs to comply with state laws as well as checking the gun in a hard sided, locked case. The gun also needs to be declared with the airline. Passengers who bring prohibited items to the checkpoint are subject to possible criminal charges from law enforcement and civil penalties from TSA.
