NORFOLK-The Salvation Army was up early on Thanksgiving preparing the thousands of meals that will be served to people in need.

Captain Brett Meredith was carving a turkey at the 19th St Men's Hope Center in Norfolk. It's one of five locations where The Salvation Army will serve Thanksgiving dinner from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to anyone who wants a holiday meal.

Reginald Martin is one of the army of volunteers who are spending Thanksgiving helping others. "I get the feel of love, I get an understanding of what Thanksgiving is about and volunteering services," he says.

Two other locations are the Salvation Army Portsmouth Corps at 2306 Airline Boulevard and the Salvation Army Norfolk Corps at 5516 Raby Road.  Mobile kitchens will be in Norfolk and Portsmouth as well.

Capt. Meredith says contributions from businesses and the public and volunteer cooks help make this and each day possible.
