ABOARD USS ENTERPRISE -- A Norfolk-based sailor was found dead aboard USS Enterprise on Tuesday.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Micah Aaron Hill, 27, served as a machinist's mate on the carrier that's currently operating in the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation New Dawn in Iraq.
The Navy is investigating the circumstances of his death and wouldn't say where on the ship he was found or who found him.
Hill was from Ralston, Nebraska.
This is the second death of an Enterprise sailor in nearly a month. On March 22, Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Vincent Filpi, 41, was found aboard ship and died in a non-combat incident. He was the leading petty officer for the carrier’s Safety Department and was an aviation ordnanceman.
Two others have been rescued in the last two weeks after going overboard. A sailor on Monday was recovered without injury; two weeks earlier, a sailor was rescued and had minor injuries after going overboard, according to Navy information.
USS Enterprise deployed from Naval Station Norfolk in January.
