NORFOLK -- A sailor has died after falling six stories at Naval Station Norfolk.

It happened Tuesday night after a dispute with another sailor at the base. That word coming this morning, in a news release from Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic.

The sailor, assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman, was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after falling from Wall Manor, which is housing for transient Navy personnel on Gilbert Street

Public Affairs Officer Teri Davis said that this started as a fight between that sailor and another sailor that took place around 8:20 p.m. At some point in the fight, the sailor went off a balcony and fell to the ground.

The other sailor was also hurt and taken to the hospital, she added.

No word on whether any charges will be filed in this death; however, a Navy source confirmed the NCIS has "an active and on-going investigation" and agents are talking to witnesses.

No names have been released yet. It's Navy policy to wait to do so until 24 after next of kin has been notified.

Truman returned from a nine-month deployment in mid-April. The ship's air wing had flown more than 2,900 combat sorties in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
