NORFOLK--Keep Norfolk Beautiful and Norfolk Public Libraries are gearing up for their 2013 Great American Cleanup activities.
As part of the annual Great American Cleanup™, volunteer readers visit Norfolk’s elementary classrooms and narrate one of several short stories to students, grades Pre-K through 3rd, in nearly two dozen schools.
This year's Green Reader program will take place April 1–30 and you can take part in the fun. Volunteer readers will read green books to over 5,500 students. This year’s Green Reader book list include: The Lorax, Michael Recycle, Let’s Recycle, and I Can Save the Earth.
This is the 12th year for the Green Readers program, an educational activity which helps guide students toward environmental and community stewardship at school, home, and abroad. Officials stress the program is correlated to Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOL) and supports and curriculum in Norfolk Public Schools.
