NORFOLK -- Police said a body found Sunday morning was that of 28-year-old Marcus Blount. Officers continued to look for his killer late in the day.
“If there is someone involved, we definitely want to get to the bottom of this, because it’s becoming overwhelming,” said Blount’s sister, who wished to remain anonymous.
Someone came across the body of Blount, who lived in the 6100 block of Dandy Court in Virginia Beach, at about 7:15 a.m.
His body was in an alley in the 6400 block of Stoney Brook South, which police described as an isolated cul-de-sac in an apartment complex tucked between Newtown Road and Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Neighbors tell 13News Now crime is common in the area, and some are asking for stepped-up security.
"This neighborhood is attracting unnecessary trespassers and they need cameras at both entrances,” said Margaret Burton, a resident of Stoney Brook South. “There’s only one way in and one way out."
There was no information available about a possible cause of death. Officers originally characterized the the circumstances of his death as "undetermined.”
13News Now found that Blount had a criminal history that included a variety of charges, including some related to weapons.
Blount’s family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.
