NORFOLK- Police say a woman was injured Wednesday in a Norfolk carjacking.

According to police, 28-year-old Gregg Baird approached an SUV driven by an adult female in the 400 block of North Center Drive.

Baird allegedly told the woman to get out of the car. When the woman refused, police say he threw her on the ground, causing minor injuries.

Police say Baird got into the SUV and fled the area around 10:22 a.m.

A few minutes later, police say Baird approached a second vehicle at Sellger Drive and Kidd Blvd. and demanded that the driver remove a pair of sunglasses. Police say the driver refused and left the area, and police say Baird did not attempt to take the second vehicle.

Police arrested Baird about 30 minutes later and recovered the carjacked vehicle.

The SUV owner was treated at the hospital for cuts to her face.

Baird, who lives on Lankford Highway in Machipongo, Virginia,  is charged with one count of robbery-carjacking.
