NORFOLK -- The suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shootings of two men in Norfolk last week is now in custody according to police.

Police say 31-year-old Javou Jameil Smith turned himself in on Monday.

Smith is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of use of a firearm.

Investigators found Smith's partially burned car Sunday at an apartment complex in Norfolk.

Police say 46-year-old Ervin A. Peebles and 34-year-old Aalon Smith, both of Drewryville, were shot as they sat in a pickup truck on Friday afternoon.

Smith is being held in the City Jail on no bond and is scheduled for a hearing in General District Court on March 26.
