NORFOLK-- Sam Simon, co-creator of the TV show "The Simpsons," was in Norfolk Friday as PETA renamed its headquarters after him.

Simon helped cut the ribbon Friday for the new Sam Simon Center on Front Street.

For fifteen years Simon has championed animal rights efforts and supported PETA President Ingrid Newkirk in her efforts.

Simon told the crowd on hand that he hopes his face and name will inspire people to work harder for animal rights.

"Sam will do anything for animals anyone asks him to.  He's opened his home for events and benefits.  He's been out on the street with us protesting the wretched circus," said Newkirk.

Also on hand for the dedication was actress Jennifer Tilly and New York Jet football player Bret Lockett.
