Six-month suspended sentence for woman who make threat against ODU's Webb Center

12/10 UPDATE: According to online records for Norfolk General District Court, Brandi Barnes was found guilty Tuesday on an amended charge of Harassment by Computer. She was given a six-month suspended sentence, ordered to be on unsupervised probation for a year and has to pay $275.00 court costs.

Update 11/1: Brandi Barnes, a student Norfolk State University, has been charged with communicating a bomb threat, which is a class 5 felony.  She is being held  Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: ODU Police Chief says the bomb threat was posted on two social media platforms.  

NORFOLK -- The Webb University Center at Old Dominion University has been re-opened after an anonymous threat shut it down around 12:30 PM Thursday afternoon. ODU Police with help from Norfolk Fire Rescue and State Police swept the building. They did not find anything suspicious.  An alert sent to the ODU community says that University police will "maintain an enhanced presence in the area."

Police are continuing their investigation into the threat. If you have information, you are asked to contact ODU Police at 757-683-4000.
