NORFOLK -- Everyone dreams about winning the lottery, but for one Norfolk nurse that dream recently became a reality.
Every day, on her way home from work, Nelda Booker stops for a cup of coffee and often a lottery ticket at her favorite 7-Eleven in the 200 block of Newtown Road in Va. Beach.
That routine took an exciting turn when she scratched a ticket and won $100. She then used part of her winnings to buy a Millionaire Mania ticket.
A moment later she returned to the store clerk, who asked, “Did you have another $100 winner?”
“Oh no,” she replied. “I’ve got a BIG winner!”
Indeed she did. Her Millionaire Mania ticket was worth $500,000.
Booker said she has no immediate plans for her winnings. "I'm just going to let it settle in," she said.
