NORFOLK -- Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a Norfolk man suspected of rape and robbery.
Police say the alleged rape took place inside an apartment in Thomasville, North Carolina early Wednesday morning.
The 21-year-old victim told police Jerome Brockington, 44, assaulted and forcibly raped her. Brockington had been staying in the area for approximately one month prior to the assault.
He was last seen on foot in the 100 block of South Street in Thomasville, wearing a Carolina Panthers jacket, dark jeans, and black shoes.
The suspect is also wanted by the Norfolk Police Department for an armed robbery that occurred on Feb. 1.
“Brockington has a violent history and should be considered armed and dangerous,” said Det. Jaime Foley with the Thomasville Police Department. “We believe he is still in the immediate area, however, he does have ties to South Carolina and Virginia.”
Brockington is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He also has a mole on his nose.
Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
