NORFOLK -- City Council voted Tuesday night to allow food trucks to conduct their business in certain areas of downtown.
Foodies had said that they wanted the city's ban lifted while many downtown restaurants expressed concerns about a drop in customers.
The original ordinance only allowed them to do business on private commercial properties with the owner's permission.
The amended ordinance would allow them to operate on city streets under certain conditions, including setting up only in designated parking spaces.
The Virginian Pilot reports other vendors will also have to pay annual fee.
