NORFOLK-- Bauer Compressors is expanding its operation in Norfolk, Mayor Paul D. Fraim announced Friday. The $15 million expansion will add 130 new jobs, which grows the workforce to over 300 over the next several years, according to the city.
The current facility is located in Norfolk Industrial Park. The company will expand the manufacturing facility and administrative offices within its campus.
“We are delighted that Bauer Compressors, Inc. has committed to increase its presence in Norfolk. They are a valuable asset to our business community, a shining example of longstanding foreign direct investment, and a source of pride for our city,” said Mayor Fraim.
Bauer has been making high pressure compressors for 60 years.
According to a release from the city, more than half of the Bauer Compressors products are exported, the majority of which flows through the Port of Virginia.
“To embark on such a bold investment at a time when other companies are retreating is remarkable. We are especially proud to be creating good paying manufacturing jobs locally and right here the Tidewater area. To that effect, we are grateful to our loyal customers who are the reasons for Bauer’s incredible success and inspiration for our future,” stated Tony Bayat, President of Bauer Compressors, Inc.
The project will be built over a two year period.
