NORFOLK -- A Norfolk elementary school was on lockdown Friday after police received a report a juvenile with a gun near school property.
School spokeswoman Elizabeth Mather told 13News Now a Lindenwood Elementary School teacher, who had been outside with a class during PE, saw a young person holding what appeared to be a BB gun off school grounds.
The school was on lockdown from 12:40 p.m. until 1:05 p.m. Friday while police investigated the claim, Mather said.
Police detained a female juvenile in the 2700 block of Ludlow Street. Police say a toy pellet gun was located at the scene. It is not known whether she faces charges.
A woman at the scene told 13News Now, "It's a big deal because it's a gun, but it really was just a BB gun. They mess with her because she's a troubled teen."
