NORFOLK (AP) -- The city of Norfolk has fired a 911 dispatcher who posted a comment on Facebook about a man killed by police.

City spokeswoman Lori Crouch tells media outlets that Jessica Camarillo was terminated July 30.

Camarillo was suspended in May after she posted the comment on a retired police officer's Facebook page following the fatal shooting by police of 22-year-old Joshua "Omar" Johnson. Camarillo posted that the officers should sue Johnson's family for putting their lives in danger.

She later apologized, saying her comment was intended as a joke but was insensitive.

Johnson was shot May 20 after passing a bad check at Wells Fargo in Ghent. Police said the officer fired because he feared for his partner's life when Johnson backed up the car he was driving.
