NORFOLK - The start of the 2013-14 school year may seem far away, but now is the time for parents to get their children ready to start pre-kindergarten and kindergarten in Norfolk Public Schools.

Norfolk Public Schools is hosting a series of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten round-ups from April 16 through April 18 for families throughout the City of Norfolk.

This first-ever, citywide event offers incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students and their parents the opportunity to meet teachers, school nurses, principals, and administrative staff while completing the enrollment process.

Round-Ups will be held for elementary schools in each of Nor folk's five school attendance zones as follows:

  • April 16 at Booker T. Washington and Lake Taylor high schools
  • April 17 at Maury High School
  • April 18 at Granby and Norview high schools

Prospective kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 30, 2013. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please bring the following documentation to submit:

  • Official, certified birth certificate
  • Social Security number
  • Up-to-date health and immunization record
  • A valid government-issued ID and a document proving residency such as a lease or utility bill
