Man pistol-whipped for his tennis shoes

NORFOLK - Police say a 19-year-old pistol-whipped a man and then shot him for his tennis shoes.

Linsey Williams allegedly threatened the man on E. Tanners Creek Road on March 11, took the shoes and then shot him.

He was arrested Thursday by members of the Norfolk Police Special operations Team, said police spokeswoman Karen Parker-Chesson, on charges of abduction-extortion money, robbery, felonious assault, use/display of firearm in the commission of a felony, possession, transport firearms by convicted felon and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The investigation into the incident continues.
